The Persistence of Memory by Graeme Koehne

This ten-minute memorial work was rapturously received at its August 8 premiere by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra with soloist David Nuttall, their principal oboe. See an audience member’s review of the concert here, saying the soloist Nuttall played with “refined and enrapturing tone”.

Written in memory of Guy Henderson, who served as principal oboe of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for an inspiring 31 years (1967-1998), this atmospheric piece has been recorded on a new all-Koehne CD by the Tasmanian Symphony for release in 2015.
